Language
Across Kefalonia, the language that is spoken is Modern Greek. While many Greeks who are familiar with tourists will be able to converse in limited amounts of English, here are a few phrases that might help you.

Coves and beaches for water sports
Kefalonia is blessed with many attractive beaches. Part of the fun is exploring the coastline & and with a car they are quite accessible. The small shingle beaches scattered around the local coastline provide pleasant spots to relax and watch village life or for invigorating water sports.
Foki Bay
From Tselentata, the beach is to be found 1.5 kilometres away, on the road to Fiscardo. This delightful, pebble bay is great for snorkelling.
Embilisi
From Tselentata village, the beach is 3 kilometres away. You need to pass through Fiscardo, Embilisi is on the road from Fiscardo to Antipata. It is a pebble bay with one taverna on the road down to the beach.
Dafnoudi
From Tselentata, village, Dafnoudi beach is 4.5 kilometres, situated at Antipata.
This beach generally attracts the crowds in high season, however, it does have a good choice of watersports. The following activities are available: waterskiing, ringos and bananas.
Ayia Yerusalem & Alaties
From Manganos village, take the turning for Tzamarelata (next to the taverna). Continue downhill until reaching a fork in the road. The road signposted to Agia Yerusalem and Alaties both take you to small local pebble/shingle beaches.
Tipping
It is usual to tip in Greece as in the UK (of course, providing the service was to a suitable standard). Usually, waiters are paid a very low salary and they make their income from their tips. In some of the larger establishments, the waiters are highly qualified professionals who can make a decent wage, provided they are good enough.
